ELLENWOOD & STARK WIN SENIOR FOUR-BALL
Hackelman & Royse Claim Super Senior Division

Bastrop, TX - Wolfdancer Golf Club held up through two days of heavy rain to challenge the players for the final round of the 2012 State Senior Four-Ball Championship.  With the soft conditions, numerous teams made a run at the title, but the overnight leaders in both divisions were able to hang on for victories.

In the Senior Division, Chuck Ellenwood and John Stark continued their fine play en route to a three shot victory.  Ellenwood and Stark posted a final round 67 to finish at sixteen under par for the championship.  This is the teamís second consecutive victory in this championship.  Michael Rice and Jerry Hudgins made a valiant charge, but even with a final round 66 they came up short.  Rice and Hudgins finished the week in second place at thirteen under par.  The low round of the day went to the team of Bob Neal and Jim Quinn with a 65.  That great round vaulted the team into a third place finish at ten under par.

Ron Hackelman and Tom Royse cruised to a four shot victory in the Super Senior Division.  Hackelman and Royse fired a final round 69 to finish at twelve under par for the championship.  Hackelman and Royse used their local knowledge of the course to post three consistent rounds.  Howard Knowles and Larry Walsh posted a final round 67 to jump into a second place finish at eight under par.

There were two divisions: Championship and Super Senior. To participate in Championship Division both players must have a GHIN Handicap Index of 6.4 or less. To compete in Super Senior Division both players must be 65 or older as of the first round and have a GHIN Handicap Index of 8.4 or less.

Format for both the Championship and Super Senior Divisions is 54 holes of four-ball stroke play. Each will play from different tees/yardage with a separate champion being crowned in each division.  Super Seniors must declare on application if they wish to compete in Championship Division.
