Deb Vangellow, LPGA, Breaking 100 Leader

Deb Vangellow is an all-around athlete that has chosen a career as a golf educator after a successful experiences as a letter-winner in soccer / track and Division 1 Golf Coach. She has a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and a MS from Miami (Ohio) University.  Although golf was not always the focus, Deb says, “I was always going to be an educator.  I use my education every day.”  She has worked at some of the best clubs in Texas and taught with the greatest instructors in the game. She was the longtime Director of Instruction at Sweetwater Country Club (the former home of the LPGA), and has worked with the Kathy Whitworth Golf Academy and the NIKE Golf Camp at Pebble Beach.  She was the 2012 LPGA National Teacher of the Year and is currently the President of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division. Most recently, Deb was named as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Houston.
She in an LPGA Master Professional, Callaway Golf Master Staff Professional,  and is recognized as one of America’s Top 50 Best Women Teachers by Golf Digest Magazine, Golf Magazine, and US Kids Golf.  She is the lead instructor in the LPGA Global Education Program, and serves on the LPGA Board Of Directors, the Golf Advisory Committee for the First Tee, the National Advisory Council for Junior League Golf, the LPGA Foundation Board, and as the first female professional on the Golf MD’s Professional Advisory Team.  She is currently the Director of Instruction at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land.
In keeping with her long-standing commitment to women/junior golf and growing the game, Deb is one of 11 teaching pros who have pledged to give 100 Lessons to Women and Girls on behalf of the Breaking 100 campaign.  In fact, she’s already exceeded her goal!  With favorable February weather and the supportive club at Riverbend, Deb led a special clinic raising funds for the ‘Nez Muhleman Junior Girls Travel Fund.  She also hosted a women’s only demo day, offering instruction and equipment especially for women.    Click here to learn more about Deb and support her in her campaign.  All of the funds raised through Breaking 100 are contributed directly to the TGA Foundation’s Women’s Initiatives and support programs to connect women to golf.
