Entry Fee: $250              
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers with a GHIN handicap index of 5.4 or less, and who are 25 years of age or older as of the first round of the Championship. Please reference TGA Policies and Procedures for further details, including Policies and Procedures, and Conditions of Competition.
Exemptions: Provided players are otherwise eligible, exemptions are given to the following:
  1. Texas Amateur or Mid-Amateur Champion from the past three (3) years
  2. Players advancing into the Round of 16 in the match play portion of the previous year’s Mid-Amateur Match Play
  3. Any player who finished in the top ten (10) in the previous year’s Texas Mid-Amateur
  4. Any player who finished in the top ten (10) and ties in the current year’s Texas Amateur
  5. Three (3) host club selections
The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field.  For exemption request details, please view TGA Policies and ProceduresExempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field.

Championship Information

Format/Field Size: Scheduled for 18 holes of stroke play qualifying on Thursday. The low 32 players advance to match play beginning on Friday. Round of 32 and 16 played on Friday, Quarter and Semifinal matches played on Saturday, and Final match on Sunday morning. The field is limited to 84 players.

What's Included: The championship entry fee includes greens, cart and range fees for all championship rounds including the championship practice round.  The entry fee also includes a championship gift and lunch during the match play rounds.
Host Hotel: The Hyatt Place San Antonio Airport/Quarry Market (7615 Jones Maltsberger Road, San Antonio, TX 78216) is a host hotel for the championship. A courtesy room block has been set-up for the championship with a special guest rate of $129 per night (King or Double Queen, multiple occupancy) plus applicable taxes. Players may make reservations by contacting the hotel directly by telephone at (210) 930-2333 and reference 'Texas Golf Associoation - Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play'. Or via the link here, and using the group code 'G-TXGA'. Room availability and nightly rates will be honored until July 12th, 2017. After the cut-off date, rooms can be resereved based on availability. 
Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Wednesday, July 19th between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. If a player cannot make registration, he must notify a TGA official at the host club that he is unable to make the registration deadline, but will be competing in the championship. Those players not contacting a TGA official by 5:00 PM are subject to forfeiting their playing position.
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round on Wednesday, July 19th, only. Players must contact the host club golf shop at on or after July 13th to schedule a practice round tee time.   

Pairings/Tee Time Information: Pairings for the Stroke Play qualifying round will be posted to www.txga.org on Monday, July 17th. Please see below for the schedule for the Match Play portion.
Policies & Procedures
To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Conditions of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship.  Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie for the competition.  Caddies must abide by the host facility dress code.
Transportation: Players may walk or ride at their discretion. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts will be limited to two (2) riders at a time and two (2) carts per group. There are no spectator carts allowed during this championship.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Condition NOT in Effect): The USGA Groove Rules effective January 1st, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship the stroke play qualifying round scores will be automatically posted as a "T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive rounds, as this will result in a double post.
