Will Osborne was good when he played his own ball, but he might have been even better as a teammate. To start the year, Osborne partnered with Joshua Irving of Dallas, the 2015-16 Texas Player of the Year, in February to win the North Texas Four-Ball at Sky Creek Ranch in Keller. The two teamed up again in May to win the Texas Four-Ball at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin. Osborne, a member at Shady Oaks Country Club, also had strong solo outings, finishing second in the North Texas Mid-Amateur and T11 in the North Texas Amateur. His best performance at the statewide level was T8 at the Texas Mid-Amateur at Comanche Trace in Kerrville.

Trevor Sauntry of Houston National GC proved that steadiness can be the key to winning Regional Player of the Year honors. Though he didn’t get in the winner’s circle in 2017, Sauntry carded top finishes in each of his three South regional appearances. In February, he and partner Bart Worthing of Weston Lakes finished T18 in the South Texas Four-Ball. Sauntry then in March tied for third at the South Texas Mid-Amateur, followed in August with T6 showing at the South Texas Amateur.
