Entry Fee: $325         
 
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers with a GHIN Handicap Index of 6.4 or less and who are 55 years of age or older as of the tournament start date (first round of tournament play). All players will be competing in one division from the same tees and yardage.  Please reference Texas Golf Association Policies and Procedures for further details, including Policies and Procedures, and Conditions of Competition.

Exemptions: Provided players are otherwise eligible, exemptions are given to the following:
a) Last five (5) Texas Senior Amateur Champions;
b) Top 20 and ties in previous year’s Senior Amateur;
c) Finished in the top 20 and ties in current year’s Texas Amateur or previous year's Mid-Amateur;
d) Any player that qualified for the final field of the current and previous year’s US Senior Open and/or the previous year's US Senior Amateur;
e) Top five (5) finishers and ties in current year’s West Texas Senior Division;
f) Top fifteen (15) finishers and ties in the current year’s Regional Senior Amateurs;
g) Low two (2) Seniors that make the cut in the current year’s Texas Amateur;
h) Previous year's State Senior Player of the Year;
i) Current Year Mid-Amateur Match Play Winner and Runner Up; 
j) Top three (3) finishers and ties in current year’s Super Senior Amateur.

The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field. For exemption request details, please reference Texas Golf Association Policies and ProceduresExempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field.
 
Entry Procedure: The field will be established by handicap index (lowest to highest) using the handicap "Effective Revision Date” of August 15th, 2017. All applications including exempt must be received by the entry close date of August 23rd, 2017 @ 5:00 PM. After the entry deadline has passed, spots in the field will be allocated to the exempt players and then the lowest handicap index players until the field is full. Those not making it into the field will be placed on the wait list in rank order of their handicap index (lowest to highest). Players will be notified by Friday, August 25th, 2017, if they are in the final field, or where they stand on the wait list. 
 
 
Championship Information
 
Format/Field Size: Play will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play. All players will be competing in one division from the same tees and yardage.  The field is limited to 144 players. At the completion of the 36 holes the field will be cut to the low 54 players and ties.

What's Included: The entry fee includes greens, cart, and range fees for the practice round and all championship rounds. The entry fee also includes a championship gift, lunch during the first and second championship rounds, and food/beverage at the Player Welcome Reception.

Host Hotel: The following hotel properties have established courtesy room blocks for the 2017 Texas Senior Amateur Championship.  Please review the details below and contact the properties directly for more information or to make reservations.
 
The Magnolia Hotel – Dallas Park Cities (6070 North Central Expressway, Dallas, TX) is a host hotel for the championship.  A courtesy room block has been set-up for the championship with a special guest rate of $129 per night (Single or Double Queen, multiple occupancy) plus applicable taxes.  Players may make reservations by contacting reservations directly by telephone at 888-983-5012 and reference ‘Texas Senior Amateur Championship Guestroom Block’ or via the reservation link provided here.  Room availability and nightly rates will be honored until September 12th, 2017.
 
The Highland Dallas, Curio Collection by Hilton (5300 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX) is a host hotel for the championship.  A courtesy room block has been set-up for the championship with a special guest rate of $199 per night (Single or Double, multiple occupancy) plus applicable taxes.  Players may make reservations by contacting reservations directly by telephone at 855-426-0597 and reference ‘2017 Texas Senior Amateur Championship’.  Room availability and nightly rates will be honored until August 28th, 2017.
 
Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Thursday, September 28th between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. If a player cannot make registration, he must notify a TGA official at the host club that he is unable to make the registration deadline, but will be competing in the championship. Those players not contacting a TGA official by 5:00 PM are subject to forfeiting their playing position.
 
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round on Thursday, September 28th only. Players must contact the Royal Oaks Country Club Golf Shop (214-691-0339) on or after Wednesday, August 30th to schedule a practice round tee time.   

Pairings/Starting Time Information: Pairings/starting times for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than Friday, September 22nd online at www.txga.org.  Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play (approximately one hour after the completion of play) online at www.txga.org, in the Texas Golf Association Tournament Office and the Royal Oaks Country Club Golf Shop. Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the previous rounds of play.


Policies & Procedures
 
To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Conditions of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association.  For more information, please click here.  For information specific to Conditions of Competition applicable to this championship, please see below:
 
Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie for the competition and are not guaranteed a cart seat. Caddies must abide by the host facility dress code.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
 
Carts: Players may walk or ride at their discretion. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts will be limited to two (2) riders at a time and two (2) carts per group.  There are no spectator carts permitted during TGA Championships.
 
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship each player’s score will be automatically posted as a "T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive rounds, as this will result in a double post.
