Selection for Invitation (Mid-Amateurs): Of the eight (8) mid-amateurs chosen from each region, four (4) will be selected from the TGA Statewide Player of the Year point standings, and four (4) will be selected from the TGA Regional Player of the Year point standings.
 
The respective point-earning period for statewide selection will include the TGA statewide and USGA Championship events found in the statewide performance points breakdown; all statewide players will have up to the completion of the current year Texas Mid-Amateur Championship and U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying period to earn points toward the event. Please note that any points earned during the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship itself will not count towards selection, due to time constraints ahead of the Texas Shootout.  For complete information on Statewide Player of the Year point-earning events, point breakdowns and current standings, please click here.
 
In addition to the respective point-earning TGA regional events, all regional players will have up to the completion of the current year Regional Amateur Championships to earn points towards the event.  For complete information on Regional Player of the Year point-earning events, point breakdowns and current standings, please click here.
 
Once a player earns a spot via Regional Player of the Year Points, he utilizes a spot from that category and is no longer a factor in determining selections from the State Player of the Year points list.
 
Selection for Invitation (Senior Amateurs): Of the four (4) senior players chosen from each region, each will be selected based on the TGA Senior Player of the Year point standings.
 
The respective point-earning period for senior selection will include the TGA statewide and USGA Championship events found in the senior performance points breakdown; all senior players will have up to the completion of the current year's Texas Senior Amateur Championship and the U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying period to earn points towards the event. The four (4) highest ranked players from each region (North/South), regardless of their overall position on the points list, will be selected.
 
 
Championship Information

Format/Field Size: Each team will consist of 12 players representing the North and South Regions. Foursome and Four-Ball Matches will be played on day 1 (Saturday), with Singles Matches being played on day 2 (Sunday). 

What's Included: The entry fee includes greens, cart, and range fees for all championship rounds including the championship practice round. The entry fee also includes championship gifts, lunch during competitive rounds, and food/beverage at the cocktail reception and banquet.
 
Host Hotel: The following hotel property has established courtesy room blocks for the 2017 Texas Shootout.  Please review the details below and contact the properties directly for more information or to make reservations.
 
The Westin Galleria Dallas (13340 Dallas Parkway, Dallas, TX) is a host hotel for the championship.  A courtesy room block has been set-up for the championship with a special guest rate of $139 per night (Deluxe Guestroom, Double Occupancy) plus applicable taxes.  Players may make reservations by contacting reservations directly by telephone at 888-627-8536 and reference ‘TGA – Texas Shootout’ or via the reservation link provided here.  Room availability and nightly rates will be honored until October 12th, 2017.
 
Registration Information: All competitors must register with Texas Golf Association staff prior to the start of the Texas Shootout and their practice round. Official tournament registration will be held at Maridoe Golf Club on Friday, October 27th beginning at 12:30 PM. Competitors who are unable to register on the date and time listed above must contact Texas Golf Association staff in advance of the Texas Shootout.
 
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round on Friday, October 27th, only. Practice rounds will be scheduled according to each team roster, with scheduled starting times for each team outlined in the Schedule of Events below.   
 
Match Pairings & Starting Time Information:  Match pairings and starting times will be determined at the Friday evening Cocktail Reception for the Saturday (morning) Foursome Matches and Saturday (afternoon) Four-Ball Matches. Sunday Singles Match draw and starting times will be determined at the Player Dinner on Saturday evening.
 
 
Policies & Procedures
 
To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Conditions of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association.  For more information, please click here.  For information specific to Conditions of Competition applicable to this championship, please see below:
 
Caddies: A player is prohibited from using a caddie during the stipulated rounds of the Texas Shootout.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Condition NOT in Effect): The USGA Groove Rules effective January 1st, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
 
Carts: Players may walk or ride at their discretion. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts will be limited to two (2) riders at a time and two (2) carts per group.  Non-motorized/push carts will not be permitted.  There are no spectator carts permitted during TGA Championships.
 
Dress Code: Apparel will be provided to teams as part of the gifting for the Texas Shootout and be available at Registration. Team Captains will coordinate apparel for each competitive round. Business casual attire with slacks is required for the Cocktail Reception and Player Banquet.
 
Spectators / Guests: This is a team event. Spectators are certainly welcome to attend the matches, but carts will not be available for spectators or guests. The Cocktail Reception, Player Dinner and other player meal functions are intended for players only.
