Entry & Eligibility Information
 
Entries Open: February 21st, 2017 @ 9:00 AM
Entries Close: April 6th, 2017 @ 5:00 PM
Exempt Deadline: March 16th, 2017 @ 5:00 PM
 
Entry Fee: $200              
 
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are 55 years of age or older by the first round of tournament play, and reside in the South Texas region (31st parallel, Salado, TX and South is the break point). Applicants must have a certified GHIN Handicap index of 8.4 or less for the Senior division and 10.0 or less for the Super Senior division. Please reference TGA Policies and Procedures for further details, including Policies and Procedures, and Conditions of Competition.
 
Exemptions: Provided players are otherwise eligible, exemptions are given to the following:
a) Top ten (10) finishers and ties in previous year’s South Senior (Senior Division);
b) Top five (5) finishers and ties in previous year’s South Senior (Super Senior Division);
c) Last five (5) South Senior Amateur Champions (Senior & Super Senior)
d) Three (3) Host Club selections
 
 The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field.  For exemption request details, please view TGA Policies and Procedures. Exempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field.
 
Entry Procedure: 
The field will be established in the order in which entries are received with a priority for exempt players in each division until the published exemption deadline of March 16th at 5:00 PM. Once the exemption deadline has passed, and if the field or a division is not full, the TGA will fill the remaining spots in the field with waitlisted entries, which may affect the size of each division. These entries will be accepted into the field in the order in which they were received, regardless of division. Championship Information

Format/Field Size: Play will be contested over 36 holes of stroke play. The field will be split up in two divisions; Senior (55 or older as of the tournament start date) and Super Senior (65 or older as of the tournament start date). 60 Senior / 24 Super Senior. Each division will play from different tees/yardage with a separate champion being crowned in each division. Super Seniors must declare on application if they wish to compete in the Senior Division.

What's Included: The championship entry fee includes greens, and range fees for all championship rounds.
 
Registration Information: There is no official on-site registration or check-in required. Players should arrive to the tee approximately 8-10 minutes prior to their starting time.
 
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) practice round at the negotiated rate of $40 including cart. Please contact the host club golf shop to schedule a practice round.   

Pairings/Tee Time Information: Pairings/tee times for the first round will be made available no later than Friday, April 7th online at www.txga.org. Final round pairings/tee times will be available in the evening preceding play (approximately one hour after the completion of play) online at www.txga.org. Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the previous round of play.
 

Policies & Procedures
 
To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Conditions of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie for the competition. Caddies must abide by the host facility dress code.
Transportation: Players may walk or ride at their discretion. Cart fee for all championship rounds is included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at a time, and a maximum of two (2) carts per group. Caddies are permitted.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Condition NOT in Effect): The USGA Groove Rules effective January 1st, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
 
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship each players score will be automatically posted as a "T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive rounds, as this will result in a double post.
