Austin, TX - The 89th WTGA State Amateur Championship has another champion to add to the prestigious title, Sarah Zwartynski. After a long week of waiting for the weather to cooperate and completing three matches on Thursday, Zwartynski came out on top. "Winning the State Amateur really means a lot,” Zwartynski said. "The trophy has all the past winners on it and I am in great company.” Following a strong finish of her junior season at Texas A&M University, Zwartynski won her first collegiate title at the Betsy Rawls at the UT Golf Club and qualified for the 2010 USGA US Women’s Amateur in Charlotte, North Carolina. "The State Amateur was preparation for the US Women’s Amateur.” Zwartynski said.

In the final championship match Zwartynski defeated San Antonio’s Erica Pressley 4 and 2. Earlier in the week Zwartynski defeated Cleveland’s Karisma Smith, 2 up, Texas A&M teammate Aly Smith 3 and 1, Lufkin’s Hannah Arnold 5 and 4 and Dallas’s Carolyn Creekmore 3 and 2. "My hardest match of the week was against Karisma Smith. She had me three down after 11 and I won 2 up on 18. Playing Aly was a fun match. We both played well. At one point I was 5 under and she was 2.” Zwartynski said.
