Entry & Eligibility Information

Entries Open:  May 9, 2022 at 9:00 AM
Entries Close:  June 22, 2022 at 5:00 PM
Withdraw Date: June 22, 2022 at 5:00 PM

Entry Fee: $300 per player

Eligibility: Entries are open to female amateur golfers with a certified WHS Handicap Index. Please reference TGA Women’s Competition Policies for further details, including policies and procedures, and terms of competition.

Entry Procedure: Lowest handicap indexes in multiples of 8 with a maximum of 88. In the event the championship becomes over-subscribed, entries will be accepted in order of handicap index based upon the June 22, 2022 WHS Handicap Revision.

Championship Information

Field Limit: The field is limited to 88 players.

Format: The 32 players with the lowest qualifying scores will fill the championship flight and contend for the title. The remaining players will be divided into seven flights of eight based on qualifying score. The qualifying round is required for all players. The 16 players eliminated in the first round of championship flight match play may participate in an 18-hole stroke play consolation round. In flights 1-7, the four players eliminated in the first round will proceed to a consolation match play bracket.

For those players who do not qualify for the championship flight, the committee reserves the right to shorten the yardage for continuing matches in the last three (3) flights.

What’s Included: The entry fee includes greens, carts, and range fees for the practice round and all championship rounds. The entry fee also includes a championship gift, and lunch after all championship rounds.

Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round at the Golf Club of Houston on Monday, July 11. Players must contact the host club golf shop and identify themselves as 101st Women’s Texas Amateur Championship players to schedule a practice round.

Pairings Information: Starting times and pairings for the qualifying round will be made available online at www.txga.org no later than Friday, July 8 by 5:00pm.

Prizes/Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the champion and runner-up in the championship Flight. Flights 1-7 champions, runner-up and consolation winners will be awarded. Medalist for the qualifying round, as well as the Junior Medalist and Senior Medalist will be awarded. To qualify to be a junior medalist, you must be 19 years of age or younger by July 5, 2022. To qualify to be a senior Medalist, you must be 50 years of age or older by July 5, 2022.

P.O.Y. Points: State Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top finishers.

Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the 101st Women’s Texas Amateur.

One-Seat Policy

When riding in a golf cart, there may not be more than two (2) riders per cart at any time. The player can ride in or move a golf cart with another player’s caddie in it, so long as the player whose caddie is in the cart is not riding in another cart at the same time. As a reminder, players are responsible for the actions of their caddie. Continued intentional disregard for the policy may result in disqualification. Riders may not ride on the back of a golf cart, or on the dashboard of the golf cart. All riders must be seated on the golf cart seat.

Transportation:  Players are encouraged to ride carts during all championship rounds. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at one time and two (2) carts per group. Players must share. Riding on the back of golf carts is prohibited.

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are allowed for this championship.

USGA Groove Condition of Competition:  The USGA Groove Rules effective January 1, 2010 are not in effect for this competition.

Score Posting: The qualifying round of the tournament will automatically be posted as a “C-score” to your GHIN. Therefore, to avoid duplication, players should not post their tournament scores for the qualifying round. Scores for match play rounds will not be posted to WHS.

TGA Medical Cart Request Policy

Spectators carts are prohibited. However, spectators in accordance with ADA compliance may request golf carts. Requests for golf carts must be supported by complete documentation, including the fully-completed Cart Request Form and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. Any medical cart request that is granted by the TGA will be good for that individual for the remainder of that calendar season.
