Stonebriar Country Club to Host North Four-Ball

The Texas Golf Association will kick off the 2013 championship season with the North Four-Ball on February 23-24. This 2013 North Four-Ball Championship will be held at the Stonebriar Country Club, Fazio Course. Stonebriar Country Club will provide a good challenge as the best amateurs in North Texas look to start the year off with a victory.

Stonebriar Country Club, located in Frisco, offers two great 18-hole golf courses. This year, the North Four-Ball will be held on The Fazio Course, designed by the world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. Bent greens, and Tifsport Bermuda fairways, along with dramatic bunkers and hazards are sure to challenge the field.

The format for the championship is 36 holes of Four-Ball Stroke Play, with all teams playing in the Championship Division. Entries are open to male amateur golfers residing in the North Texas region (both players must reside in the North region) as defined by the Texas PGA Sections (31’ parallel, Salado, TX and South is the break point). Applicants must have a certified GHIN handicap index of 10.0 or less and meet the requirements listed in the “TGA Policies and Procedures”.

In 2012, the team of Patrick Cawthorne and Lewis Stephenson cruised to victory with a 36-hole total of 131, -13. Despite a blistering opening round of 63, the team of Mike Calef and Kevin Somers fired a 36-hole total of 134 to finish three strokes behind the winners in second place.
