Trophy Club CC to Host North Mid-Amateur

The Hogan Course at Trophy Club Country Club is set to host the 2013 edition of the North Mid-Amateur. This is a familiar event for the Trophy Club, having held the 2011 North Mid-Amateur on its Whitworth Course. This year the North Mid-Amateur will be played on the Hogan Course, which is Ben Hogan’s only golf course design. At 6,953 yards, The Hogan Course will be a challenging test of accuracy and course management.

The North Mid-Amateur is open to male amateur golfers who are 25 years of age or older by the tournament start date and reside in the North Texas region (north of the 31’ parallel) with an index of 8.4 or less. Entries open on February 4th and close on March 19th, or when the field is full. Please reference “TGA Regional Tournament Eligibility” for additional details.

The format for the event is 54-hole individual stroke play with no cut. The winner and runner-up will earn an exemption into the 2013 Texas Amateur to be held June 13-16 at Lakeside Country Club in Houston. The top three finishers will also receive an exemption into the 2013 Texas Mid-Amateur, scheduled from September 27-29 at Cordillera Ranch, in Boerne.

The 2012 North Mid-Amateur, held at Old American Golf Club, brought 3 days of blue skies, and little wind to speak of. Make Calef, who at the time had only been in Texas for a few short months, fired rounds of 70-68-72 to win the event by four shots, and claim his first TGA Championship. Calef was the only player in the field to break par for the championship, finishing at 3-under par. Brandon Scott fired a final round of one under par 70 to finish alone in second place at one over par for the week
