Wilhelm Wins at Sonterra

The TGA Medalist Series kicked off the 2014 season this past weekend in San Antonio at The Club at Sonterra. The first event of the year was compiled of 25 players looking to get back into competitive form before the official tournament season kicks off with regional and statewide championships. The players were met with mild conditions on Saturday, followed by cold and windy conditions on Sunday. Ross Wilhelm of San Antonio and Ryan Luna of Selma were tied for the lead after opening rounds of 1-under par, 70. On Sunday, Collin Bumpass of San Antonio tied the low round of the day with a 77 and matched Wilhelms 36-hole total of 149. Wilhelm was eventually named champion after making birdie on the first playoff hole to defeat Bumpass.

The Medalist Series continues in the north February 8-9 at The Tribute.
