Hageman Wins South Senior Amateur Championship

(Spring, TX) – Two new champions have
been crowned at the 2014 South Senior Amateur Championship, presented by CLUB
CHAMPION.  Richard Hageman and Marshall
Utterson, in the Senior and Super Senior divisions respectively, both claimed
come-from-behind victories at Raveneaux Country Club.

Hageman, of
Garden Ridge, bested his opening round score of 1-over par 72 yesterday with a
final round score of 2-under par 69.  Hageman
played steady golf on the opening nine of his final round with a single birdie
and bogey to turn at even par 35.  Continuing
his steady play on the back nine, Hageman picked up two more birdies to finish
the final round 35-34.  His 1-under par
141 total gave him a two shot victory in the Senior division over Mike Booker
and Kent Samuel, both of The Woodlands.
Booker and Samuel each finished with a two-day total of 1-over par
143.   Finishing alone in fourth place was first
round leader Pat Youngs, of San Antonio.
Youngs posted 67-77—144 for the two days.

HoustonÂ’s
Utterson also played steady golf over the two days to take the title of Super
Senior Champion.  After an opening round
of 4-over par 75, UttersonÂ’s only blemish on his final round scorecard was a
lone bogey on the par three 8th hole.  His 1-over par 72 gave him a two-day total of
5-over par 147.  Finishing in a three-way
tie for 2nd place at 154 were McAllenÂ’s LD Clopton, Larry Walsh, of
Mountain City, and San AntonioÂ’s Jim Carssow.

Players
finishing in the top ten (and ties) in the Senior division, and the top five (and
ties) in the Super Senior division, will earn exemptions into the 2014 State
Senior Amateur Championship at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth that will
be held September 26-28.

The Texas
Golf Association would like to extend their gratitude to the membership and the
staff of Raveneaux Country Club for hosting this yearÂ’s regional championship.
