Four Tied After the First Round of the South Amateur Championship

(Kerrville, TX) – Four players sit atop the leader board at 3-under par 69 after the first round of the South Amateur Championship, presented by Club Champion.  John Dowdall, Jimmy Keener, Logan Boatner and Jordan Sanders all made their way around the Hills and Creeks courses at the Club at Comanche Trace with very few blemishes to their scorecards in the final regional championship of the 2014 season.
Dowdall, from Fulshear, carded five birdies and a lone double bogey on the par five 15th hole in his first round en route to his 3-under par day.  Dowdall began his round on the Creeks course and turned at 1-over par 37 in part to double bogey and one birdie.  He got the ball rolling as he turned to the Hills course and birdied three of the first four holes.  A fourth and final birdie on his back nine allowed for Dowdall to post a first round of 32-37–69.
San Antonio’™s Keener front nine, the Creeks course, included three birdies and one bogey for his 2-under par 34.  Two more birdies and one more bogey on the Hills course allowed for Keener to post a first round 35-34–69.  Boatner, of Humble, began his round on the Hills course and registered three birdies and two bogeys for a front nine 1-under par 35.  His back nine saw two closing birdies over the final four holes for a 35-34–69.
Cedar Park’s Sanders began the first round on the Hills course and had turned at 3-under par 33 which included a double bogey, three birdies and an eagle on the par five 4th hole.  His back nine, the Creeks course, saw him play in even-par 36 with one bogey and one birdie.
