Jabbia and Larsen take respective leads at South Senior Amateur

Montgomery – Charlie Jabbia and Chris Larsen lead their respective divisions after the opening round of the South Senior Amateur Championship. Charlie Jabbia shot a 2-under par 69 in the Senior Division and Chris Larsen shot a 3-under par 68 in the Super Senior Division. This year’s championship, presented by Club Champion, is being contested at Woodforest GC on the West and Back courses.
 
Jabbia, the 2013 South Senior Champion from Beaumont, recorded four birdies throughout the round to help gain his lead. Houston’s Michael Pierce sits one shot behind Jabbia after an opening round 1-under par 70, which included five birdies and four bogeys.
 
The Senior Division will begin play at 8:00 AM with our leader teeing off of Hole #1 at 9:48. Jabbia will be joined in the final pairing by Pierce and The Woodlands’ Mike Booker. Jabbia’s lead is a small one and he has 11 fellow-competitors within five shots of the lead.
 
Larsen, of Houston, started his day with thirteen straight pars before he recorded the first birdie on the 14^th hole. Larsen added two more pars to his round and then was able to finish birdie – birdie.
 
Larsen, 3-under par, will take a two stroke lead into the final round of the Super Senior Division. Kemah’s Sam Boyd, 1-under par, and Conroe’s Bob White, 1-over par, will play alongside Larsen at 9:39 AM off the 10th tee. The rest of Super Senior Division will tee off beginning at 8:45 AM off of the 10^th tee.
