Mira Vista To Host 11th Texas Cup Invitational

The 11th annual Legends Junior Tour’s Texas Cup Invitational presented by Veritex Bank will be held Nov. 7-8 at Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth. Seventy-eight of the top junior golfers from around the world are scheduled to compete.
 
Players are extended invitations to the Texas Cup based on their performance in Legends Junior Tour and Texas Junior Golf Alliance events, Golfweek Junior Rankings and other categories. Last year the elite boys-only field featured some of the world's best juniors from eight states and seven foreign countries including Canada, China, Columbia, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
 
Started in 2005 as a high school tournament, the Texas Cup Invitational has blossomed into one of the most prestigious events on the junior golf calendar thanks to the dedication of forward-thinking tournament organizers and the generosity and support of event sponsors.
 
Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, Mira Vista opened for play in 1987. Mira Vista is known for having a competitive membership and has been the site of numerous high-profile amateur and professional events over the years including two of the Texas Golf Association’s biggest championships, the 1994 Texas Amateur and 2000 Texas Mid-Amateur, as well as the 1997 Southern Amateur and the 2004 U.S. Girls’ Junior.
 
Although not overly long – playing to a maximum of 6,849 yards from the tips – the course features several sharp doglegs, a couple of split fairways and some undulating green complexes, making it a strategically diverse course that will no doubt prove to be a demanding test for today’s top young players.
 
The championship format is 36-hole individual stroke play consisting of one division and is ranked by Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard. A number of coveted AJGA Performance Stars will be awarded to top finishers.
 
At the 2014 championship, also contested at Mira Vista, Max Miller of College Station carded rounds of 71-70 to post a one-under-par 141 total for a three-stroke victory and put an exclamation point on his junior career. Miller, now a freshman at Texas A&M, also captured two other major titles during his wildly successful stint on the LJT, winning the 2014 George Hannon Junior Invitational and the 2013 Texas State Junior Championship.

Admission is free and spectators are welcome to attend.
