LJT Players of the Year Announced

DALLAS— Pierceson Coody, Turner Hosch and Hailey Jones earn Player of the Year honors on the Legends Junior Tour for their sensational play throughout 2015. Parker Coody won the James A. Ragan Sportsmanship Award and Carey Schulten won the LJT’s Volunteer of the Year.

Pierceson Coody won the Boys 15-18 Division, earning 4,874 points in 2015. The Plano native finished runner-up in the Byron Nelson Junior Championship and the Collegiate preview, while also recording a tie for third at the Bluebonnet Championship and a tie for fourth in the season-ending Texas Cup Invitational. The 15-year-old, who is the grandson of 1971 Masters Champion Charles Coody, competed in seven total LJT events in 2015.

Dallas’ Hosch won the Boys 14 & Under Division, earning 8,075 points in 2015. Hosch played in 10 Legends Junior Tour events in 2015, nine of which he competed in the Boys 14 & Under Division. The lefty won two events on tour this season, winning the inaugural James A. Ragan Memorial in February and claiming victory at the George Hannon Junior Invitational in August. Hosch finished runner-up at the Texas State Junior Championship and at the Bluebonnet Championship and recorded three more top-5 finishes. Hosch competed in the Texas Cup Invitational at Mira Vista Country Club, finishing tied for ninth.

Jones of Dallas won the Girls 12-18 Division, earning 8,800 points in 2015. Jones played in 11 LJT events and earned a spot on her second-straight Jackie Burke Cup team. The 15-year-old recorded top-5 finishes in eight tournaments this year, including wins at the Texas State Junior Championship and at the Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship. Jones finished runner-up at the James A. Ragan Memorial, the Jimmy Demaret Junior Classic and at the George Hannon Junior Invitational.

Parker Coody was voted as the LJT’s James A. Ragan Sportsman of the year. The award is given annually to the player who is characterized by virtues such as fairness, discipline, courage, persistence and respect for others. Coody competed in nine events on the Legends Junior Tour in 2015, finishing tied for second at the North Texas Classic and fourth at the Collegiate Preview.

Schulten was awarded the LJT’s Volunteer of the Year in 2015. After serving a long career as a pilot for Delta Airlines, Schulten has spent countless hours giving back to and playing the game he loves. He is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Golf Association and currently serves on the Executive Committee as well. The 2010 LJT Volunteer of the Year has volunteered 31 total days to golf tournaments in 2015, including working the full week at the Texas State Junior Championship in July.

The Legends Junior Tour would like to congratulate all the award winners for their hard work and representing the LJT in a great way. The tour saw 26 different winners in its 15 tournaments in 2015, including seven players that won multiple times.
