2016 TGA Medalist Series Announced

The Texas Golf Association is pleased to announce another year of the Medalist Series to be conducted in the North and Hill Country Regions. The Medalist Series is designed to give TGA member players a chance to knock off the winter rust and play in TGA tournaments without having the championship atmosphere. The TGA Medalist Series is a great way for a fresh start into our 2016 Tournament Schedule and includes three separate tournaments in each respective region.

The Medalist North Series will be highlighted at the newly renovated No.1 course of Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson on April 23-24. Sherrill Park Golf Course was ranked in the top four Texas golf courses in a recent article by the Dallas Morning News. Sherrill Park ranked in both economy and mid-priced categories. The Medalist North Series will start off the season at Sky Creek Ranch on February 6-7th; followed by Golf Club of Dallas on March 5-6th.

The Medalist Hill Country Series consists of two long standing member clubs to host TGA Medalist Series – Club at Comanche Trace and Club at Sonterra. Both of these two courses have been long reviewed as top hill country courses in Texas and have been favorites among Medalist players. The Medalist Hill Country will begin at Comanche Trace on February 6-7th, followed by Onion Creek Country Club – March 5-6th and Club at Sonterra on April 2-3.

With no regional restrictions, Medalist players will be compete in either the North or Hill Country Medalists while gaining points for Medalist Player of the Year in both the North and Hill Country. Player of the Year candidates will receive an automatic exemption into the 2016 Texas Mid-Amateur Championship at Spanish Oaks Country Club in Austin, TX.

Entries will open January 4, 2016 at 9:00am and will close the Monday prior to each event at 5:00pm. For complete schedule and information sheets, click here.
