Carolyn Creekmore wins 2016 Women's Eclectic

Carolyn Creekmore claimed the 2016 Women's Eclectic Overall Gross title at The Club at Sonterra by posting an Eclectic score of 4-under par 68.  Her 11-stroke improvement helped erase a three-stroke defecit over first round leader Flor Canedo.  Creekmore added two birdies to the four she recorded in round one and replaced two of the three double bogeys from day one with a par and a birdie.  Canedo improved her score by seven strokes primarily by recording five birdies during her round today, but it wasn't quite enough to catch Creekmore who gained five strokes on just holes #7 and 9.

Jan Rapp improved by 12 strokes to tie Canedo and Anna Schultz with a score of 69.  A scorecard playoff gave Canedo the gross title for the First Flight, Rapp won 1st place in the First Flight net competition and Schultz claimed the 2nd place gross award.  San Antonio's Kelley Nittoli and Austin's Anna Morales, the 2014 Eclectic Champion, finished one stroke out of the playoff.

The top five gross scores in the First Flight earn Player of the Year award points.  With her victory, Creekmore earns ten points and leads the standings.  Flor Canedo, Jan Rapp, Anna Schultz, Kelley Nittoli and Anna Morales each earn five points for finishing in the top five.

Two players from the host club tied for the overall net title.  The Club at Sonterra's Margaret Lange defeated fellow club member Rachel Wadsworth in a scorecard playoff to claim the victory.  Tami Donnelly made the best use of the Eclectic opportunity by improving her first round score by 26 strokes.  She gained 19 of those on three holes.

Three of the five players who have pledged to play 100 Holes of Women's Competition in support of the Breaking 100 program completed 36 of their pledged holes.  Terry Dukes from Horseshoe Bay finished 2nd in the second flight.  Donna Brady improved her score by 20 strokes to claim 1st net in the 2nd flight and Nannette Wheelis improved her score by 13.  All three are now more than one third of the way toward their goal.  Learn more about the Breaking 100 campaign here.

Next up for Women's Competitions is the Partnership, scheduled for April 25-26 at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin.
