Anderson's 1-under 70 Leads Fourth Annual Flodder Financial Shootout

KATY – The Legends Junior Tour’s fourth annual Flodder Financial Shootout kicked off Monday afternoon at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas. Round Rock’s Jack Anderson leads the Boys 15-18 division after a 1-under-par 70 on Monday afternoon.

In the Boys 14 & Under division, Houston’s Garrison Hoyt and Cypress’ Lucas Borrero carded 1-over-par 72’s in their opening round. In the Girls 12-18 division, Katy’s own Elina Sinz carded a 2-over-par 73 to sit atop a crowded leaderboard.

The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is hosting the Flodder Financial Shootout for the first time. The previous three years, Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club hosted the event. The Boys 15-18 division is playing the par-71 course at 6,727 yards, while the Girls 12-18 division is playing 5,744 and the Boys 14 & Under division is playing 6,226 yards.

Anderson, 16, started off on the par-4 10th hole, where he made birdie. He got to 3-under through seven holes before a bogey on the difficult par-4 17th. He made up for it with a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole but closed with bogeys on two of his final three holes. His 1-under 70 was the lone round under par.

Anderson leads by three shots over Katy’s Jared Bray. Spring’s Ben McCall and Magnolia’s Tanner Davis sit four shots back in a tie for third place. Five others sit one back of that duo in a tie for fifth place at 4-over-par 75.

In the Boys 14 & Under division, both Hoyt and Borrero had relatively stress-free opening rounds. Hoyt only carded 2 bogeys on the day, and one birdie, the par-4 eighth hole. Borrero only carded three bogeys. He had a rough six-hole stretch that those three bogeys came on, but a bogey-free back nine put him tied atop the leaderboard.

Evan Vo of Austin sits alone in third place, two shots back of Hoyt and Borrero. Temple’s Dallas Hankamer and Richmond’s Stephen Campbell Jr. are tied for fourth place, four shots back of the leaders.

In the Girls 12-18 division, Sinz, 14, opened her round with a birdie on the first hole and had another on the par-5 fourth hole to get to 2-under through four. Her back nine was a little more difficult, carding three bogeys and no birdies.

Sinz has a one-stroke lead over Calynne Rosholt and Michelle Kung heading into Tuesday’s final round. Valerie Routzong, runner-up in last year’s in the Flodder Financial Shootout, sits in fourth place, two shots back of Sinz. Seven players sit within three strokes of Sinz’s 73.

Final round tee times are scheduled to begin at 7:30 Tuesday morning off the first tee. For more information on the Flodder Financial Shootout and the Legends Junior Tour, please visit www.TXGA.org. First round results can be found here.
