LJT Alumni Shines at 117th U.S. Open

DALLAS– Scottie Scheffler took home low amateur honors at the U.S. Open on June 18, 2017 at Erin Hills, continuing the recent success of Legends Junior Tour Alumni succeeding at the next level. 

With rounds of 69-74-71-73, he finished the 72-hole event at 1-under with a 287 overall score. He made 15 birdies in four rounds at Erin Hills, which was hosting it's first U.S. Open, and hit 79 percent of his fairways and 71 percent of greens in regulation. Scheffler's opening-round 69 saw him make three birdies on the back side, including the 632-yard 18th. 

Scheffler, who is a nine-time winner on the LJT, competed in more than 35 Legends Junior Tour events during his junior golf career and played on four consecutive Jackie Burke Cup teams from 2008-2011.The Dallas native's last win came at the 2011 Bluebonnet Championship, where he fired rounds of 68-71 to finish seven strokes ahead of the field. 

The upcoming senior at the University of Texas has seen success at the collegiate level during his tenure there. Scheffler has two wins for the Longhorns and has played in 38 events and 114 rounds in his first three years in school.
