With home course knowledge, Comegys and Parmerter counted six birdies throughout their round and just one bogey on the dogleg par-5 ninth hole. The team displayed steady golf throughout the back nine and came home with an impressive 3-under 33.
Teammates at Dallas Baptist University, Arguelles and Harrison started their round with five straight pars and a birdie on the sixth hole. They finished the front nine with a 1-under 36. The duo fired a 4-under 32 on the back nine. The team birdied both back-nine par 3s, the 12th and 14th holes.
There are a total of five flights in this year’s tournament. Leading the second flight with a score of 2-over par is a three-way tie between the teams of Julie Buechner of Fort Worth and Sarah Deering of Austin, Lisa Beck of Dallas and Carolyn Creekmore of Midland, and Ashley Hawkins and Krista Newman-Manning of Fort Worth. Sitting atop of the leaderboard of Flight 3 is Dot Lovett of Georgetown and Linda Lowery of Pflugerville with a one stroke lead going into the final round. Tani Traver of Sealy and Patricia Walters of Montgomery shot a 7-over 72 to lead Flight 4. Flight 5 is led by Joanne Burleson of Southlake and Linda Edwards of Waxahachie by three strokes.
