Schultz Leads Eclectic by One
 
Austin – Anna Schultz leads the 2018 Women’s Eclectic Gross Championship by one stroke over Elizabeth Scaggs. Schultz fired 73, which is three-over-par on The Onion Creek Club’s Original Course. In the Overall Net Championship, there is a three way tie for first between, B.A Needham, Patsy Hughes and Jennifer Leblanc. Each recorded scores of four-under-par, 66.

Anna Schultz of Heath began her day on the first hole after the shotgun start to begin the tournament. She recorded three bogies in her first seven holes before she broke through with a birdie on the par four, ninth. Her back nine started with two bogies, a birdie, a bogey and one last birdie before she made all pars coming in. Her three-over-par allows her to rest tonight on a one shot lead headed into the final round.

Laying chase, is Dallas’ Elizabeth Scaggs whose four-over-par total only featured one birdie that came on the difficult 300 yard, par-four, third. Scaggs will play her final round with Schultz, starting on the first hole at 9:00 a.m.

In the Overall Net Championship, three players share the lead. B.A. Needham, from the Woodlands, fired a round that featured back-to-back net eagles on the Original Course’s fifth and sixth hole. Patsy Hughes of Katy made five net birdies and an eagle en route to her total. Magnolia’s Jennifer Leblanc used an incredible front nine net score of 27 to vault her up the leaderboard.

The Eclectic is two-day event that allows each player to take her better hole score over the two rounds. The 112-player field was flighted by handicap index into seven flights. All players are competing within their flights and for the title of Overall Gross and Overall Net Champion.

In an interesting development, the same player leads both the Net and Gross division in each flight.  In First Flight, Anna Schultz leads. The Second Flight features Kathy Skinner atop the leaderboard. Cindy Obermeyer holds the Third Flight’s lead. In the Fourth Flight, Claudia Willis leads her peers. B.A. Needham holds a small lead in the Fifth Flight. The Sixth Flight is led by Patsy Hughes. Finally, in the Seventh Flight, Jennifer Leblanc holds the lead.
