Golf Course: Located in the heart of Texas Hill Country, The Hills Country Club’s Flintrock Falls course offers 18 holes of championship level golf. Opening for play in 2002, this Nicklaus Design course measures out to 7,051 yards and plays as a par 72.  The course design forces golfers to hit a variety of shots to maneuver around each hole while missing all the bunkers. Jack Nicklaus designed the first nine holes and his son, Jack Nicklaus II, designed the second nine. Flintrock Falls last hosted the Jimmy Demaret Junior Classic in 2016.

Weather: Round 1 was delayed 10 minutes due to heavy fog.

In contention: In the Boys 15-18 division, Dallas Hankamer of Temple carded five birdies on the day and leads after the first round with a score of 3-under par 69. Austin’s Colin Slater currently sits two shots off the lead after posting a round of 1-under par 71. Slater’s three hole birdie stretch before the turn put himself in good position heading into the final round. The Hills’ very own Jack Lawlor currently sits in third place going into the final round after first round even par 72.

Ben Delarosa of Dallas and Grant Yerger of Driftwood share the first round lead of the Boys 14 & Under division at 3-over par 75. Currently sitting in third place and one shot off the lead is Pflugerville’s Eston Duff with a score of 4-over par 76.

In the Girls 12-18 division, Abilene’s Maddi Olson leads the pack after a first round score of even par 72. Four shots back in second is Mimi Burton of Austin with a score of 4-over par 76.
