LJT Spring Preview Moves to Quail Valley

DALLAS – The Legends Junior Tour’s Spring Preview heads the Quail Valley Golf Course on March 2-3. The 90-player field will play the El Dorado Course for both rounds of competition.

Quail Valley Golf Course is hosting the Spring Preview for the first time in the tournament’s 14-year history. The El Dorado Course was renovated in 2009 and stretches out to 6,900 yards. The rolling terrain is surrounded by numerous lakes and creeks, which makes ball striking a key for all players in the field.

The tournament had previously been held at BlackHorse Golf Course the past five years. Woodforest Golf Course and Twin Creeks Golf Course are also past host sites of this event.

Past champions of this event include William Zalatoris, Maddie Szeryk, Stratton Nolen, Brad Dalke, Nathan Weant, Brendan Redfern, Travis Vick, Julia Beck, Cole Hammer, Hailee Cooper, Kyle Hogan, Turner Hosch and Hanna Alberto.

Austin’s Thomas Bockholt III won the Boys 15-18 Division last year after going bogey free and shooting 6-under 66 on the final day at BlackHorse Golf Club. Bockholt would go on to win the Boys 15-18 Division Player of the Year Award last year.

In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Zach Kingsland of Austin went wire-to-wire in his victory and finished at 1-under 143 overall. Houston’s Jacqueline Nguyen won the Girls 12-18 Division after posting rounds of 73-72 to get to 1-over 145 overall.

The Spring Preview will be ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. AJGA Performance Stars will be awarded to top finishers in both the Boys 15-18 Division and the Girls 12-18 Division. Both divisions will also hand out exemptions into future LJT Invitational Championships.

The top three finishers in the Boys 15-18 Division earn exemptions into the Texas Cup Invitational, which was moved up in the year and added an extra round to make it a 54-hole event.

As with every event on the Texas Junior Golf Alliance schedule, points will be awarded toward the Player of the Year Points List. The points list is used to determine the LJT Players of the Year and who qualifies for the Jackie Burke Cup North and South teams.
