Skeen and Robinson Win South Four-Ball

Briefly: Robert Skeen and Devaughn Robinson come from behind to win the South Four-Ball presented by Impact Precision Golf. The duo charged up the leaderboard on Sunday and posted 8-under par 64 en route to a three stroke victory at Sugar Creek Country Club.

Golf Course: Sugar Creek Country Club is located in Sugar Land, just southwest of downtown Houston. Built in 1972, the Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed golf course features 27 holes. This weekend’s championship is being played on the Trent and Jones nines. All three nines have undergone a renovation within the last 6 years. Today’s round was contested at 6,795 yards with a par of 72.
 
Weather: 67 degrees and sunny with winds at 12mph and gusts to 28mph.
 
Winners’ Info: Skeen and Robinson tag-teamed the final round with Skeen rolling in four birdies and Robinson recording five birdies. The duo had one bogey on their card in the final round.

With five of the birdies, three from Robinson and two from Skeen, the tandem turned at 5-under par 31 before each posting two more birdies on the final nine holes. The lone blemish was a bogey for the side on the par four 14th hole. 
 
Their final round 64 was the low round of the tournament and posting 12-under par 132 for 36 holes was three strokes better than runner-ups Jonathan Shipley and Toby Zeringue, who finished in solo second at 9-under par 135.
 
In contention:

  • Jonathan Shipley and Toby Zeringue finished in second place after a final round 5-under par 67. Zeringue recorded his second career hole-in-one in the first round.
  • Four teams tied for third place at 8-under par 136: Joey Rippel / Blake Redmond, Scott Terrell / Matthew Barth, John Dowdall / Benjamin Biederer and Bryan Mitchell / Josh Ketter.
