Estorga Wins North Mid-Amateur After 2-Under 70

Briefly: Dallas’ Anthony Estorga shot a final-round 2-under 70 Sunday afternoon at the North Mid-Amateur at Waterchase Golf Club to capture the victory. He won by two shots over Colleyville’s Zach Atkinson and Fort Worth’s Jeff Murray. Southlake’s Mike Lohner was recognized as the Low Mid-Master Sunday afternoon after an even-par 72.

Final Results
 
Golf Course: Located in Fort Worth, Waterchase Golf Club challenges even the best players, meandering around and through creeks. The course features tree-lined fairways and water-lined fairways that require precision off the tee. Strategically placed penalty areas and bunkers require players to think their way around the course. Waterchase Golf Club is playing 6,909 yards for all players..
 
Weather: The temperature crept up close to 80 degrees with winds between 15-20 mph out of the south.
 
Winners’ Info: Dallas’ Estorga started the day with eight pars before carding his first birdie of the day on the par-4 ninth hole. He followed that up with a double bogey on the 10th, but carded three birdies coming home on holes 16-18 to secure the victory. Estorga’s 2-under 70 put him at 9-under 207 for the tournament.
 
Lohner led wire-to-wire and was recognized as the Low Mid-Master at Waterchase Golf Club. He had five birdies on the day, including three on his bogey-free back nine. He carded an even-par 72 and finished at 4-under 212 for the tournament.
 
In Contention: Atkinson stormed up the leaderboard Sunday afternoon, playing well in front of the leaders. He bogeyed the 10th hole, but had six birdies in his final 7 holes, including the last four to vault his way up near the top of the leaderboard. Murray played consistently and recorded his third round under par Sunday. David Richards and Kevin Doskocil finished in a tie for fourth place, four shots back of Estorga. Scott Maurer and Lohner finished in a tie for sixth place, just five shots back of Estorga.
