Curry and Noble Lead After Round 2 of Texas Stableford

KERRVILLE – Mike Curry and Jerry Noble of Houston jumped into the lead after the second round of the 2019 Texas Stableford Handicap at Riverhill Country Club. The duo combined for two birdies and 15 pars propelling them into first place, carding 51 points, 6.5 over their second round quota and 11.5 points for their overall quota.

Golf Course: Designed by close friends Joe Finger and Byron Nelson in 1974, Riverhill Country Club’s 18-hole course is a premier location for golf in Texas and the United States.  Based in the heart of Hill Country, the course boasts its rare bent-grass greens and a 7,137 yard, 72-par challenge featuring scenic creeks, hills and a lake throughout the property.  Over time, the course became Nelson’s favorite, where he was quoted saying, “If I had only one golf course to play, it would be Riverhill.”

Weather: Partly cloudy with light morning showers, high of 96 degrees with a southeast wind at 3 mph.

In Contention: Defending champions Jamey Freisleben of Montgomery and Russell Schroeder of LaPorte moved into second place in the overall standings after scoring 64 points, 3 over their second round quota. Their new total is 7 overall points.
Friday’s leaders, Mike LaRose of Plano and Josh Lipton of Austin, slipped into third after carding a single combined birdie, scoring 59 points, finishing 3.5 less their second round quota.  They enter Sunday with 5.5 points in the overall standings.

Following close behind LaRose/Lipton in the fourth spot are teammates Richard Medina of San Marcos and Jason Williamson of Round Rock.  The duo soared up the leader board after they carded 59 points, 11 over their second round quota, and they have 5 points after two rounds.

Two teams are tied for fifth place, finishing with 3.5 points after two rounds of play:  Scott Stumbo and Dennis Terrell of Odessa scored 71 points (0.5 over their quota), while Don Cole of Aledo and teammate Ruben Sanchez of Odessa scored 62 points, also 0.5 over their quota.

What’s Next: Final round tee times begin Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. off No. 1 & 10 tees at Riverhill Country Club.
