Anna Schultz Moves into Lead at Women's Senior after Round 2
Briefly: An eagle on the par-4 ninth, along with three birdies on the day, helped Anna Schultz of Heath move into first after the second round of the 2019 Women’s Senior Stroke Play at Pebble Creek Country Club Tuesday afternoon. Schultz’s two-day 74-71 | 145 total tops a crowded leaderboard entering Wednesday’s final round.

Golf Course: Built in 1991 by renowned designer and course architect Ken Dye, Pebble Creek Country Club boasts a 6,896 yard 18-hole championship course. Known for its natural backdrops at each hole featuring winding creeks, hills and lakes throughout, it is a championship-caliber test on all aspects of competitors’ play. Tuesday’s second round played at around 5,200 yards.
Weather: Sunny and clear sky with the temperature reaching 82 degrees. The wind calmed down and blew northeast at 6 mph.
In Contention: San Antonio’s Kelly Nittoli and Meg Christensen of Austin are both tied for second at 2-over 146, falling just a single stroke behind the lead.
Monday’s first-round leader, Marilyn Hardy of Magnolia, fell three positions to fourth place after a 4-over 76 second round. Hardy enters the final round at 3-over-par on the tournament.
Two are tied for the fifth spot at 4-over 148: Marian Barker of Lubbock and Jan Rapp of Dallas, though they only trail the lead by three strokes.
What’s Next: The final round shotgun starts Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. at Pebble Creek Country Club. Players were placed into six different flights for Wednesday’s final round based off of their 36-hole total scores.
