Women's Eclectic Heads to Hackberry Creek CC

IRVING – The first two-day event on the 2020 TGA Women’s Championship schedule will take place on Mar. 9-10 when the Women’s Eclectic gets underway at Hackberry Creek Country Club.

The Women’s Eclectic is an individual competition in which each player takes her better score for each hole over two rounds to get an Eclectic 18-hole total score.

“The Women’s Eclectic is a great format to start the 2020 season,” Director of Women’s Operations Amy Worthington said. “We are looking forward to hosting it this year at Hackberry Creek Country Club and welcoming some of our longtime women amateur players to Irving.”

In 2019, the Women’s Eclectic was contested at the South Shore Harbour Golf Club in League City. There, Anna Schultz of Heath defended her 2018 title with a gross total of 4-under par to win the Overall Gross Division. In the Overall Net Division, Sara Devilliers of Houston won with a net total of 15-under par.

Schultz, a Texas Golf Hall of Fame inductee, returns this year to win her sixth Women’s Eclectic title since the tournament started in 2009.  This year’s field also includes the 2019 Legends Junior Tour Player of the Year Lauren Nguyen of Katy, TGA President Leslie Henry of Houston and decorated amateur golfer Jewell Malick of Heath.

Hackberry Creek Country Club was designed by legendary golfer Byron Nelson. The Texas-native and 5-time major champion crafted 18 beautiful championship golf holes through the rolling hills of Irving. The course was recently updated with mini Verde greens, premium Arkansas white sand bunkers and water features throughout the layout.

The Women’s Eclectic begins Monday, Mar. 9 at 9:00 a.m. at Hackberry Creek Country Club.
