Entry & Eligibility Information

Entries Open: February 23, 2022 at 9:00 AM

Exempt Entry Deadline: March 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM
Entries Close: April 13, 2022 at 5:00 PM

Entry Fee: $325

Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers residing in the state of Texas age 65 or older as of the first round of tournament play, with a certified WHS Handicap Index of 12.4 or less. To be eligible for the Legends Division, golfers must be age 75 or older as of the first round of tournament play, with a Handicap Index of 16.4 or less. Please reference TGA Competition Policies for further details, including Policies and Procedures, and Terms of Competition.

Entry Procedure: The field will be established in the order in which entries are received with a priority for exempt players in each division until the published exemption deadline of March 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Once the exemption deadline has passed, and if the field or a division is not full, the TGA will fill the remaining spots in the field with wait listed entries, which may affect the size of each division. These entries will be accepted into the field in the order in which they were received, regardless of division.

Exemptions: Provided players are otherwise eligible, exemptions are given to the following:

a) Last five (5) Texas Senior Amateur Champions;

b) Last five (5) Texas Super Senior Amateur Champions;

c) Top 15 finishers (and ties) in previous year’s Texas Senior Amateur;

d) Top 15 finishers (and ties) in previous year’s Texas Super Senior Amateur;

e) Last two (2) Legends Division Champions of Texas Super Senior Amateur;

f) Top three (3) finishers (and ties) in the Legends Division of previous year’s Texas Super Senior Amateur;

g) Any player that qualified for previous year’s U.S. Senior Open;

h) Any player that qualified for previous year’s U.S. Senior Amateur;

i) Top five (5) finishers (and ties) in Super Senior Division of previous year’s West Texas Amateur;

j) Top ten (10) finishers (and ties) in Super Senior Division of previous year’s Regional Senior Amateurs;

k) Last three (3) Texas Senior Play of the Year recipients;

l) Previous year’s Texas Super Senior Player of the Year;

m) Three (3) host club exemptions.

The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field. For exemption request details, please view TGA Competition Policies. Exempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field.

Championship Information

Format/Field Size: Play will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play. The field will be limited to 88 players, 62 Super Seniors and 26 Legends.

Divisions: The field will be split up in two divisions; Super Senior (65 or older as of the tournament start date) and Legends (75 or older as of the tournament start date). Each division will play from different tees/yardage with a separate champion being crowned in each division. Legends must declare on application if they wish to compete in the Super Senior Division.

NET Recognition: In addition to the overall gross champions in both the Super Senior and Legends Divisions, a low NET champion will be recognized. There is no additional charge or registration needed to compete in the NET portion of the championship.

Handicap Procedure for NET Recognition: NET scoring for all championship rounds will be based on the players current handicap index at the close of entries (April 13, 2022). Players current handicap index will be adjusted based on 80% of the course rating/slope and tees being played.

Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round after 11:00 AM on Sunday, April 24, only. Players must contact the host club directly to schedule a practice round. Golf shop phone number is (281) 494-9131.

Registration Information: There is no official registration for the Texas Super Senior. Players are asked to arrive to their respective starting tee 8-10 minutes prior to their starting time.Tee gifts will be distributed in the scoring area following first round play.

Starting Times/Pairings Information: Starting times/pairings for the first and second rounds will be made no later than April 22, 2022 online at www.txga.org. Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play (approximately one hour after the completion of play) online at www.txga.org. Final round starting times/pairings will be re-drawn based on total score following the previous rounds of play.

Caddies: Caddies are permitted and must adhere to all TGA Competition Policies and host club policies.

Cancellation/Withdrawal Procedure: Prior to the entry deadline players looking to withdraw should do so online through their Golf Genius user profile or by contacting the TGA Staff Contact directly. After the entry deadline has passed players should either call the Texas Golf Association at (214) 468-8942 or email the TGA Staff Contact directly. Only withdrawals on the day of the competition should be directed to the host club golf shop.

Transportation: Players may walk or ride at their own discretion. Cart fees are included in the players entry fee. The TGA ‘One-Seat’ Policy is in effect. Spectators must walk at all times. For more information on TGA ‘One-Seat’ Policy, click here.

Medical Cart: Spectators in accordance of ADA compliance may request golf carts. Requests for golf carts must be supported by complete documentation, including the fully-completed Cart Request Form and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. Any medical cart request that is granted by the TGA will be good for that individual for the remainder of that calendar season. A request will not be deemed complete until all required information and documentation has been provided. Score Posting: The TGA will post all scores for individual stroke play events to players GHIN number. Players are asked to not post scores for individual TGA stroke play events as it will result in a duplicate posting.
