Entry & Eligibility Information

Entries Open: August 29, 2022 at 9:00 AM

Entries Close: September 28, 2022 at 5:00 PM

Withdraw Date: September 28, 2022 at 5:00 PM

Entry Fee: $240 per player

Eligibility: Entries are open to female amateur golfers who are 50 years of age or older by the first round of championship play, with a certified WHS Handicap Index. Please reference TGA Women’s Competition Policies for further details.

Entry Procedure: In the event the championship becomes over-subscribed, entries will be accepted in order of handicap index based upon the September 28, 2022, WHS Handicap Revision.

Championship Information

Player Field: The field is limited to 96 players.

Format: The championship is a 54-hole stroke play competition. The 16 players with the lowest handicap indexes at the Women’s Senior Stroke Play will be required to play from the Championship Tees (approx. 5500-5700 yards). All other players may select which tees they wish to play from – the Championship Tees or the Flights Tees (approx. 5100-5300 yards). Upon completion of Round 2, the field will be broken into flights based on 36-hole scores.

The deadline to change division is Monday, October 3 at 5:00 PM.

What’s Included: The entry fee includes greens fees, cart fees, and range fees for the practice round and all championship rounds. The entry fee will also include a championship tee gift, and lunch after the first and final rounds.

Player Registration: Player registration will be held on Monday, October 10 between 12:00 PM and 3:30 PM in the Wilemon Room. If a player cannot make registration, she must notify a TGA official at the host club that she is unable to make the registration deadline but will be competing in the championship.

Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) practice round at Shady Valley Country Club. Tee times have been set aside from 12:00 PM and 3:30 PM on Monday, October 10 for championship players. Players must contact the host club golf shop at (817) 275-8771 starting Thursday, September 29, and identify themselves as 2022 Women’s Senior Stroke Play Championship Players.

Please note the driving range will open at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10.

Pairings Information: Starting times and pairings for the first round will be made available online at www.txga.org no later than Friday, October 7 by 5:00 PM. Second round and final round starting times and pairings will be made available following play of the previous day’s round.

Prizes/Awards: Merchandise gift certificates redeemable at the host club golf shop will be awarded within each flight. The Overall Senior and the Super Senior (65+) Champion will be awarded from the Championship Tees. The Super Senior (65-69) and the Legends Champion (+70) will be awarded from the Flights Tees. The Founders Cup is awarded to the club whose two players had the lowest combined net score during round one.

Player of the Year Points: State Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top finishers.

Policies & Procedures

To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Terms of Competition, and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Score Posting: At the conclusion of each round each player’s score will be automatically posted to the World Handicap System. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive rounds, as this will result in a double post.

Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. The One Seat Policy is in effect.

One Seat Policy: When riding in a golf cart, there may not be more than two (2) riders per cart at any time. The player can ride in or move a golf cart with another player’s caddie in it, so long as the player whose caddie is in the cart is not riding in another cart at the same time. As a reminder, players are responsible for the actions of their caddie. Continued intentional disregard for the policy may result in disqualification. Riders may NOT ride on the back of a golf cart, or on the dashboard of the golf cart. All riders must be seated on the golf cart seat.

Transportation: Players are encouraged to ride carts during all championship rounds. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at one time and two (2) carts per group. Players must share. Riding on the back of golf carts is prohibited.

TGA Medical Cart Request Policy: Spectators in accordance of ADA compliance may request golf carts. Requests for golf carts must be supported by complete documentation, including the fully-completed Cart Request Form and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. Any medical cart request that is granted by the TGA will be good for that individual for the remainder of that calendar season. A request will not be deemed complete until all required information and documentation has been provided.
