Boles Wins Rain-Shortened Texas Cup Invitational
March 17th 2019 - McKinney, Texas – Brian Boles of Lubbock won the 2019 Texas Cup Invitational after the final round was cancelled at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club due to unplayable course conditions on Wednesday.

Afte the second round, Boles sat at 1-over-par 143 overall and one stroke ahead the field. A storm rolled in overnight with winds gusting near 60 miles per hour and rain that fell from 3:00 am until 10:00 am. The round was initially delayed one hour to start and eventually pushed back to a 12:00 pm shotgun start, but the Dye Course was unable to dry up from the overnight deluge. The Legends Junior Tour staff decided to cancel the final round.

The Texas Tech University commit earns his first victory in the Boys 15-18 Division and vaults to the top of the Player of the Year Standings. His win earns him an exemption into the Byron Nelson Junior Championship and the Texas Junior Amateur later this year.

Heath’s Matthew Watkins finished second in the Texas Cup at 2-over 144, while Lubbock’s Logan Vargas, Temple’s Dallas Hankamer and 2017 Texas Cup Invitational Champion Brandon Massey of Fort Worth tied for third at 148 overall.
