Rules of Golf Education

Following a succesful Major Changes program that was conducted in the Fall of 2018, the TGA has developed a Rules Education program that will be offered to provide education on the new Rules of Golf that go into effect January 2019. 

Major Changes Seminar
The program will be comprised of a presentation on the Major Changes to the Rules of Golf which will include PowerPoint slides and videos. It is designed for both the recreational and competitive golfer. TGA member clubs have the opportunity to host a Major Changes Seminar for their membership and invited guests. Advanced Rules of Golf Seminar
The program will be comprised of a clasroom style lecture which will include PowerPoint slides and videos. Following the lecture, attendees will have the opportunity to become certified on the new Rules of Golf. The TGA has the ability to administer the  PGA/USGA 80-question advanced exam. By acheving a score of 70 out of 80 or higher, individuals will earn the "Advanced" Rules Certification with the PGA and USGA. Certification levels through the USGA & PGA can be found, here.

The Advanced Rules of Golf Seminar is open to the public and designed for Club Professionals, Volunteer Officials, and individuals who have an understanding of the Rules of Golf. The program will take place during the Spring of 2019, dates for the semiars are TBD. 

In addition to the opportunities offered by the Texas Golf Association, Rules education opportunites are offered across the country.

PGA/USGA Rules of Golf Workshops
The PGA of America and USGA bring together some of the foremost Rules educators in the game for three and a half day workshops, to provide attendees with an in-depth knowled of the Rules and prepare them to work as Rules officials in competition.
