DOWNLOAD GOLF GENIUS MOBILE APP

As a reminder to our Member Clubs, with the transition to Golf Genius TM presented by the Texas Golf Association on Jan. 1, the USGA TM Mobile App will no longer be supported and will need to be replaced by the Golf Genius Mobile App.

If you have not already done so, please make sure to let your players know to remove the USGA TM App from their mobile device and download the free Golf Genius App. This mobile app provides the same user experience as the USGA TM Mobile App.

This mobile app transition will only affect a small portion of players – Golf Genius TM App already accounts for 90% of player downloads – but it is still important for Member Clubs to relay the information about the changeover so those impacted players will continue to have access to mobile app features and capabilities.

TGA/GHIN MEMBER DELETION DEADLINE NEARS

The TGA would like to remind all Member Club GHIN Contacts and Handicap Chairs that the end of February is the deadline for TGA/GHIN Member Deletion.

All golfers no longer wanting to participate in the GHIN service must be inactivated on your club roster no later than 11:59 P.M. (CST) on Monday, February 28. Your club’s March billing will be based on the number of active GHIN golfers in your GHIN Roster after that date and time.

For those clubs participating in our Online Join Renew (OJR) program, golfers added via OJR have already paid and should be left in your club roster as “active.” The rebated amount (if applicable) will show on your club’s March bill summary.

Lastly, please take this opportunity to make certain all Junior/Minor golfers are coded correctly as “J” type with their Date of Birth and Minors have been linked to Guardian. Juniors/Minors not coded as such by midnight on February 28 will be charged the regular rate.

If you have any questions or need assistance accessing your player rosters, please contact Mary Harrison, Senior Director of Handicapping & Membership, at 1-866-468-8942 ext. 152.

PARTNER WITH TGA FOUNDATION AND YOUTH ON COURSE TO HELP GROW THE GAME

Building on the successful introductory campaign in several target markets, the TGA Foundation has plans to roll out the Youth on Course (YOC) program statewide in 2022.

Youth on Course is a 501(c)3 organization that began in 2006 as an initiative of the Northern California Golf Association to subsidize the cost of green fees to help provide more young people with access to affordable golf. Belonging to the YOC community gives members aged 6-18 access to play more than 1,400 golf courses across North America for $5 or less, along with benefits and opportunities that support their journey with the game.

The goal for this year is to grow the number of YOC partner courses in Texas to 100, and to increase YOC membership enrollment to at least 5,000. That’s a big leap forward from the current totals, but one the TGA Foundation believes is needed to continue to create a positive impact on as many kids’ lives as possible.

To inspire and nurture a new generation of Texas golfers through the expansion of the life-changing program, the TGA Foundation is looking for golf course facilities across the state who would like to be part of the YOC community.

Becoming a YOC Partner Course is easy, and the benefits are numerous. Course operators are in full control and decide when YOC members can play the course at the YOC rate. In addition to receiving a monthly check for the subsidized rounds, course operators reported that at least 60% of the time, a parent or guardian joined the junior golfer and paid full price for their round. For course operators, that means additional revenue from green fees, cart fees, pro shop merchandise sales and food and beverage purchases.

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR 2022 TEXAS LEAGUE PLAY

Texas League Play begins its 18th season in 2022 looking to expand the roster and attract more TGA Member Clubs that would like to join in on the fun.

Since its inception in 2006, Texas League Play has helped to foster the appeal of interclub matches across the state. This exciting team match play competition utilizes the World Handicap System to level the playing field for competitors of all skill levels and presents TGA Member Clubs with a unique opportunity to engage with their members. The thrill golfers get out of playing for their home club in Texas League Play is an amazing way to provide high-energy fun, build camaraderie, boost club spirit, and strengthen member relationships.

To keep travel time to a minimum, regional conferences may be established anywhere in the state where there are four TGA Member Clubs in the same general area who are interested in competing against each other in a six-match regular season. Each team will host three matches and will play an away match against each opponent at their course. Conference winners earn a spot in the Championship Playoffs, which will be held June 2-5 at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Registration for this year’s Texas League Play will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23. If your members would enjoy being part of this unforgettable golf experience and need some help getting started, please contact Justin Guthrie, TGA Tournament Director.
