Rules and Competitions

Conducting the state’s premier amateur championships is just part of the work of the Texas Golf Association’s Rules & Competitions Department.

The TGA conducts 11 State Championships and 9 Regional Championships each year for male amateur golfers in the state of Texas. Along with these championships, the TGA also administers local and sectional qualifying for USGA National Championships.

The TGA also supports collegiate golf in the state by administering the Morris Williams Invitational (Texas), the Aggie Invitational (Texas A&M), the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate (Baylor, SMU), and the Big 12 Conference Championship.

On a biennial basis the TGA has the honor of working with the Spirit Golf Association in hosting The Spirit International, a preeminent competition featuring the world’s best amateur players representing 20 countries from six continents.

With all these different aspects of championship golf, the TGA conducts over 250 days of competition each year.

Supported by the generosity of member clubs as host sites, we are proud to offer the opportunity for players across the state to compete for our prestigious titles.
