Entry & Eligibility Information

Entry Fee: $325         
Eligibility: Entries are open to male amateur golfers with a GHIN Handicap Index from a TGA Member Club. New in 2019, the Super Senior Division and the Legends Division will recognize gross and net winners. In order to participate in the Texas Super Senior, you must have a GHIN Handicap Index of 12.4 or less for the Super Senior Division and 16.4 or less for the Legends Division. Exemptions: Provided players are otherwise eligible, exemptions are given to the following:
a) Last five (5) Texas Senior Amateur Champions;
b) Last five (5) Texas Super Senior Amateur Champions; 
c) Top 15 (and ties) in previous year’s Texas Senior Amateur;
d) Top 15 (and ties) in previous year’s Texas Super Senior Amateur;
e) Last two (2) Legends Division Champions of the Texas Senior Amateur;
f) Top 3 (and ties) in the previous year’s Legends Division of the Texas Super Senior Amateur;
g) Any player that qualified for the final field of the previous year’s U.S. Senior Open;
h) Any player that qualified for the previous year's U.S. Senior Amateur;
i) Top five (5) finishers (and ties) in Super Senior Division of previous year’s West Texas Amateur;
j) Top ten (10) finishers (and ties) in the Super Senior Division of the previous year’s Regional Senior Amateur;
k) Last three (3) Texas Senior Player of the Year recipients;
l) Three (3) Host Club Selections.
The TGA reserves the right to select players to be in the field. For exemption request details, please view TGA Policies and Procedures. Exempt players must enter by the published deadline or they will lose their exempt status and spot in the final field. 

**Entry Procedure: The field will be established on April 2nd by the Handicap Index (lowest to highest) using the handicap "Effective Revision Date" on April 1st, 2019. All applications for those players not exempt must be received by the entry close date of April 17th, 2019 @ 5:00 PM. After the Exempt Deadline has passed, spots in the field will be allocated to any remaining exempt players and then the lowest handicap index players until the field is full. Those not making it into the field will be placed on the Wait List in rank order of their handicap index (lowest to highest).

Players will be notified beginning Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019, if they are in the final field, or where they stand on the Wait List. Players that register after the Exempt Entry Deadline date will be accepted into the field based on availability, or added to the Wait List in the order by which they are received.

Championship Information
Format/Field Size: Play will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play with no cut. There will be two age divisions competing: Super Senior (age 65+) and Legends (age 75+). Each Division will play from different tees/yardage with a separate gross and net champion being crowned in each division. Legends age players wishing to participate in the Super Senior Division must declare on the application their intention to compete in this Division. The field is limited to 84 players; 60 players in the Super Senior Division and 24 players in the Legends Division.
Handicap Procedures for Net Championship: The TGA reserves the right to adjust players’ handicaps if necessary. Net scoring for all championship rounds will be based on the player’s LHI “Low Handicap Index” from the April 15th, 2018 to April 15th, 2019 E-Revisions. Each player will receive handicap strokes allocated after taking 80% of their LHI course handicap.

What's Included: The entry fee includes greens, cart, and range fees for the practice round and all championship rounds. The entry fee also includes a championship gift and lunch during the first and second championship rounds.

Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Monday, April 22nd between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. If a player cannot make registration, he must notify a TGA official at the host club that he is unable to make the registration deadline, but will be competing in the championship. Players not contacting a TGA official by 5:00 PM are subject to forfeiting their playing position.
Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round on Monday, April 22nd only. Players must contact the host club golf shop on or after Thuesday, April 18th to schedule a practice round tee time.   

Pairings/Starting Times Information: Pairings/Starting Times for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than TBD online at www.txga.org. Final round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play (approximately one hour after the completion of play) online at www.txga.org, in the Texas Golf Association Tournament Office and the Golf Shop. Final round starting times will be re-drawn based on total score following the previous rounds of play.
Policies & Procedures
To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Texas Golf Association (TGA) Policies and Procedures, Conditions of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie for the competition and are not guaranteed a cart seat. Caddies must abide by the host facility dress code.
Transportation: Players are encouraged to ride in carts during all championship rounds. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts will be limited to two (2) riders at a time and two (2) carts per group. There are no spectator carts allowed during TGA championships.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.

Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship each player’s scores will be automatically posted as a "T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive rounds, as this will result in a double post.
