Texas Star GC set for 2014 State Public Links

The 2014 State Public Links will be held May 29 – June 1 at Texas Star Golf Course in Euless.

Conducted by the Texas Golf Association, the format for the championship is 18 holes of stroke play qualifying on Thursday, May 29, with the low 32 advancing to match play. First and second round matches will be played Friday, quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday, with the final set for Sunday, June 1.  All matches are 18 holes.

This is will be the second State Public Links Championship contested at Texas Star, one of the state’s most acclaimed public courses. 

Opened in 1997, Texas Star was designed by noted architect Keith Foster, who also designed The Quarry in San Antonio and oversaw the restoration of Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth and Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Texas Star and the City of Euless have been very generous in their support of amateur golf over the years and have played host to a quite a few prominent events including the 2004 State Public Links, 2003 and 2007 North Mid-Amateur, 2009 North Four-Ball, and the 2012 North Amateur.

2014 TGA STATE PUBLIC LINKS SCHEDULE OF PLAY:

Thursday (May 29) – Qualifying round, stroke play, 18 holes.  Field reduced to lowest thirty-two players, who advance to match play portion of the championship.

Friday (May 30) – First and second rounds, match play, 18 holes.

Saturday (May 31) – Quarterfinals and semifinals, match play, 18 holes.

Sunday (June 1) – Final round, match play, 18 holes.  Awards ceremony immediately following the close of competition.
