North Team Holds Off the South to Clinch 2015 Texas Shootout Title

DALLAS – After 54 holes of competitive match play, the North Team outlasted the South Team on Monday at the 2015 Texas Shootout at Dallas National Golf Club with a final score of 38 points to 34 points to claim the championship.
 
Heading into Monday’s Singles Matches, the North Team, captained by Mike Peck of Irving, had a comfortable nine-point lead over the South Team. The North Team dominated the first two rounds of match play, winning both the Foursomes and Four-Ball matches by four points or more. However, the South Team, captained by Mike Booker of Houston, would not go down without a fight.
 
San Antonio’s Ross Wilhelm and Austin’s Jay Reynolds made an early charge for the South Team with Wilhelm garnering two and a half of the available three points for his match against Dallas’ Rob Couture while Reynolds swept Dallas’ Scott Abbott to earn all three points for his team.
 
The South Team went on to gain the majority of available points in five of their matches and splitting two, outscoring the North Team 20.5 to 15.5 in Singles match play. However, it was not enough.
 
With four key points coming from Dallas’ Zach Atkinson and Tyler’s Jerry Hudgins down the stretch, the North managed to outlast the South and clinch the 13th Texas Shootout title.
 
This is sixth time the North has won the Texas Shootout, bringing their overall record versus the South to 6-7.
 
The Champion North Team consisted of Scott Abbott of Dallas, Zach Atkinson of Colleyville, Rob Couture of Dallas, Brad Gibson of Plano, Aaron Hickman of Addison, Clay Hodge of Tyler, Jerry Hudgins of Tyler, Joshua Irving of Dallas, Will Osborne of Fort Worth, Chuck Palmer of Dallas, Captain Mike Peck of Irving and Lewis Stephenson of Mansfield.
 
The South Team was comprised of Captain Mike Booker of The Woodlands, Nicholas Cristea of Houston, Taylor Dio of The Woodlands, John Hunter of Houston, Justin Kaplan of Houston, Randy Lance of Spring, Ivan Lawson of Cypress, David Leiss of Houston, Scott Loving of Conroe, Larry Nunez of Austin, Jay Reynolds of Austin, and Ross Wilhelm of San Antonio.
