LJT Spring Preview Set for 12th Year

DALLAS – The Legends Junior Tour’s Spring Preview returns to BlackHorse Golf Club for the fourth straight year and is scheduled for 36 holes of stroke play competition on March 4-5. The 84-player field will play the South Course for both rounds of competition.

Past champions of this event include William Zalatoris, Maddie Szeryk, Stratton Nolen, Brad Dalke, Nathan Weant, Brendan Redfern, Travis Vick, Julia Beck, Cole Hammer, Hailee Cooper and two-time champion Kyle Hogan.

Dallas’ Turner Hosch won the Boys 15-18 Division last year, shooting 6-under 66 in the final round to win by one stroke over Spring’s Shuai Ming Wong. Hosch, who was the Boys 14 & Under Player of the Year in 2015, played a bogey-free round on Sunday to win his first event in the Boys 15-18 Division.

In the Boys 14 & Under Division, Austin’s Cole Sherwood posted rounds of 72-69 to get to 3-under overall and finished nine strokes ahead of the field. Kingwood’s Hanna Alberto won the Girls 12-18 Division with an overall score of 6-under 138. Alberto finished three shots ahead of Cedar Park’s Chandler Rosholt after her 5-under 67 in the final round.

BlackHorse Golf Club opened in 2001 with two distinctly different golf courses. The Peter Jacobsen-Jim Hardy designed South Course was built around large lakes and the final six holes take players through an expansive sand quarry which was transformed into wetlands.

The Spring Preview will be ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek. AJGA Performance Stars will be awarded to top finishers in the Girls 12-18 Division as well as the Boys 15-18 Division as well as exemptions into future LJT Invitationals.
The top three finishers earn exemptions into the prestigious Byron Nelson Junior Championship held at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas and the Texas State Junior Championship at Horseshoe Bay Resort. The top three finishers in the Girls 12-18 division earn exemptions into the sixth-annual Texas Girls Invitational at Crown Colony Country Club.

As with every event on the Texas Junior Golf Alliance schedule, points will be awarded toward the Player of the Year Points List. The points list is used to determine the LJT Players of the Year and who qualifies for the Jackie Burke Cup North and South teams.
