2019 LJT Schedule Released

ADDISON, Texas – The Legends Junior Tour has released the first half of its 2019 competitions calendar. The schedule has several new changes and an addition of a tournament, to get the overall total to 18 championships.

The first eight events of the calendar include three events that have not changed time slots or venues: The Winter Classic will be held January 19-20 at Dallas Athletic Club; the Bluebonnet Championship will remain at Brownwood Country Club May 4-5; the Byron Nelson Junior Championship will take place June 4-6 at Lakewood Country Club.

The biggest change to the Legends Junior Tour Schedule is the move of two prestigious Invitational events, the Texas Cup Invitational and the Texas Girls’ Invitational, to the early part of 2019. Both championships have been changed to 54-hole events, played over three days. The Texas Girls’ Invitational will be held Feb. 16-18, 2019 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas. The Texas Cup Invitational, a boys-only event, will take place March 11-13 at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club – Dye Course.

“We felt the move of these two Invitational events to the beginning of the year, as well as lengthening them to 54 holes will greatly lift the prestige of each event,” said Kellen Kubasak, Legends Junior Tour Director of Operations. “These events are two of our most popular championships and this will only increase the caliber of players that we are trying to reach on a national level.”

With the move of those events, two events that were early in 2018 have been changed to later in the year, the Collegiate Preview will be moving to August 5-6 at Mira Vista Country Club and the James A. Ragan Memorial will be held in the fall of 2019 at Corpus Christi Country Club.

Currently, three golf courses will hold a Legends Junior Tour championship for the first time: Golfcrest Country Club, Quail Valley Golf Course, and Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.

Events are open to all junior golfers that have a membership with the Texas Junior Golf Alliance. The alliance is made up between the Northern and Southern Texas PGA sections along with the Houston Golf Association.

The second half of the schedule will be released in the first half of the 2019 season via the Legends Junior Tour website. To see the schedule, click here.
