Women’s Partnership Match Play Concludes at River Crossing Club

Briefly: The 24th annual Women’s Partnership Match Play concluded Wednesday afternoon at River Crossing Club with six new team champions.

 

In the first flight, the team of Kimi Guidry of San Antonio and Nanette Hall of Universal City claimed the 1st place title after tying the team of Camm Dougherty of Corpus Christi and Leslie McCallick of Horseshoe Bay in Wednesday’s final match. The two teams battled it out on Wednesday morning, but Guidry and Hall were able to hang onto their slim lead to claim the title. Dougherty and McCallicks performance Wednesday morning left them just 3 points behind the champions, finishing in a tie for 2nd place. The other two teams finishing with a total of 47 points and tied for 2nd place featured the team of Lynda Kay and Kristen Gilbert of Montgomery and the team of Jan Rapp of Dallas and Kemberly Barrett of Woodway.

 

Another tight race took place in the second flight on Wednesday but ultimately it was the team of Lisa Papes of Allen and Sarah Farmer of Arlington who walked away with the 1st place trophy. The champion team ended the day with a total of 51 points tying them with the team of Patricia Carnes and Amy Goodwin who hail from McKinney. The two teams battled it off in a sudden death playoff, but it was Papes and Farmer who prevailed in the end to take home 1st place. The 3rd  place team of Donna Brady of Fair Oaks Ranch and Tammy Trichell of Helotes finished the tournament with 46 total points. They were able to obtain the most points in a match in their flight, 12, on Wednesday morning.

 

In the third flight, the team of Lynda Duvall of Bedford and Terry Rolan of Fort Worth were crowned champions after an exciting playoff against the 2nd place team of Ginger Dieter of Porter and Nannette Wheelis of Waco. Both teams were tied going into Wednesdays final matches and both earned 13 points in their final match to extend the tournament to a sudden death playoff. Duvall and Rolan, however, were able to finish atop the leaderboard. In third place was the team of Stefanie Smith of Dallas and Chris Meadows of Plano, earning a tournament total of 46 points.

 

The team of Dianne Dillard and Claudia Willis of Bryan put on a tremendous performance this week, earning the 1st place title in the fourth flight with a tournament total of 52 points. In 2nd place was the team of Rachel Hanse and Renee Montgomery of Houston who finished just 2 points behind Dillard and Willis. Playing against par in today’s final matches, the team of Sheryl Redwine and Jean Reynolds earned an incredible 11 points to finish in 3rd place.

 

We had an incredible finish to Wednesday’s final round in the fifth flight. It was the team of Sabra Fullwood of Leander and Sherry Brown of Round Rock who took home 1st place with a total of 52 points. Fullwood and Brown tied the team of Rebecca Hooper and Michel Bellinger of San Antonio in Wednesday mornings final match to grab the title. Hooper and Bellinger ended up in 3rd place, just 2 points shy of Fullwood and Brown. Playing against par in today’s final match was the team of Robin Bobbitt and Sally Mason of Houston who scored an incredible 12 points to jump to solo 2nd place.

 

In the sixth flight, the team of Brenda Mosley and Virginia Vaillancourt of San Antonio claimed the 1st place title after defeating the team of Jan Rollins of Mansfield and Jo Puckett of Dallas in Wednesday’s final match. The two teams battled it out on Wednesday morning, but Mosley and Vaillancourt were able to hang onto their slim lead to claim the title. Rollins and Pucketts performance Wednesday morning left them just 1 point behind the champions, finishing in 2nd place. In 3rd place was the team of Brenda Candelet of Humble and Cheryl Walters of Houston with a total of 52 points, just 2 points behind the champions.

 

Final Results

 

Golf Course: River Crossing Club’s championship golf course is playing from 5235 yards for the Women’s Partnership Match Play. Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, the course features scenic hilltop views and sprawling fairways.

 

Weather: Tuesday’s high reached the low 80’s. A few light showers surrounded the course throughout the day but missed just to the south. Wednesday’s final round began with a fog and some light rain, but cleared out as the final matches went on.

 

What’s Next: The next event on the Women’s schedule will be the 103rd Women’s Texas Amateur taking place at Spanish Oaks Golf Club in Bee Cave on June 25th –  28th. Registration is open to female amateur golfers with a certified WHS Handicap Index.
