GOLF GENIUS TM FEATURES TIP: THE NAVIGATOR

There are well over 100 pages on the Golf Genius Manager Site where users can access admin menu features and functions. While having such robust functionality is great, it can sometimes be difficult to find the page you are looking for. Because of this, the Navigator tool is always available to help you find your way.

The Navigator (always found on the top right of your screen) is a widget that allows you to search and find pages, both in the Customer Center and Manager Site, needed to accomplish specific tasks. You can also bookmark popular pages to be easily accessed and order them to establish a typical event workflow.

It’s important to understand that the primary purpose of the Navigator is to show you WHERE to accomplish a task and not HOW to accomplish a task (where the Knowledge Base is used).

HELP SUPPORT 100 HOLE HIKE FOR YOUTH ON COURSE TEXAS

The much-anticipated 100 Hole Hike fundraising event is back for 2023, and the TGA will be taking part again this year to raise money and awareness for Youth on Course Texas, a program that helps ensure young people in the state have affordable access to golf and the life-changing opportunities that come with playing the sport.

Youth on Course Texas is a partnership between the TGA Foundation (TGAF) and Youth on Course (YOC), a national non-profit, grow-the game initiative. Since launching a pilot program in the San Antonio area at the start of 2020, the two organizations have worked together to expand the reach of Youth on Course Texas over the past three and a half years to now include more than 60 courses statewide with nearly 3,500 members. To date, the TGAF and YOC have contributed approximately $125,000 to courses to subsidize over 25,000 rounds of golf.

TGA Foundation/Outreach Managers Brian Fry and Destany Hall will be participating in the 100 Hole Hike this year at one of the two host sites in Texas. Fry and Hall, along with other hikers, will be taking on the challenge of playing and walking 100 holes of golf in one day at F.M. Law Park Golf Course in Houston on Oct. 20 to support Youth on Course Texas through pledge donations for each hole of golf they successfully play or through one-time donations. The other host site is the Horse Course at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on Oct. 30.

The Hikers’ collective goal is to raise money to help fund the continued statewide expansion of Youth on Course Texas so the program can continue to create a positive impact on as many kids’ lives as possible. TECH TRAINING CRITICAL TO ENSURING CONTINUITY [CMAA]

Approximately 35 percent of today’s workforce is younger than you, according to the Pew Research Center. Millennials and Generation Z are dominating open positions in every industry, and the club industry is no exception. And they’re redefining how jobs get done, thanks to a big helping hand from technological advances that are cramming our environment. But understanding how to properly use the technology that clubs have is essential for the survival of the industry.

While the current era we’re in is decidedly tech-forward, incorporating technology training into standard operating procedures is not something every club can do easily or should simply jump into blindly. It’s important to understand the why and how behind the necessity of using technology.

When most people think about technology, they immediately think about social media. It’s true that social media has its place for engaging with members and staff and even recruiting new members and staff. But technology in the club industry goes far beyond social media. Clubs rely on technology to run everything from member databases to POS systems and more. That means training in all those various platforms is a necessity for clubs to run efficiently and consistently.

In a feature article for Club Management Association of America’s digital magazine, author Jennifer McNally takes a closer look at the importance and some of the challenges of tech training facing club managers.
